For Nicole Van Wyk, the lens was always her north star. From her early days as “the girl with the camera” to the founding of Little Things Photography, she was obsessed with capturing the Ineffable: those fleeting, wordless moments that carry the weight of a lifetime. She didn’t just take pictures; she curated memories that felt like magic.
Then, as it often does, "adulting" pulled her into a different orbit. Nicole climbed the corporate ladder, earning a Master’s in Environmental Science and mastering the art of burning the candle at both ends. But by 2021, standing at the summit of a career she no longer recognized, the light went out. The face in the mirror had become a stranger to joy. As Nicole puts it, “It just wasn’t fun anymore.”
The world paused, tragedies hit close to home, and the perspective shifted. In the quiet of that pause—and perhaps over a glass of wine or two—Nicole realized that you cannot develop a beautiful life without a few negatives. She decided to stop climbing someone else’s ladder and start building her own universe. She chose to realign her priorities: Family. Fun. Adventure.
In September 2022, Syzygy Entertainment was born. It began with Syzygy Photography, a mission to capture the moments that are too beautiful for words and too important to forget. Life is like photography: We use the shadows to find the light, and the negatives to develop something beautiful.
